Mass Extinctions and Biodiversity Explosions: Show Me Your Evidence!

Participants will have the opportunity to collaborate through a discussion of a storyline and assessment for HS-ESS2-7 Coevolution of Earth’s systems and life on Earth. Focus will be on unpacking and identifying the shifts made to create a 3D, student-driven unit. Examples include student gathering of multiple lines of evidence, to identify interactions between Earth’s systems, and mass extinction phenomena. They then claim, select evidence, and argue that the Ordovician Biodiversification event was also an example of coevolution and system instability.Student work and scaffolds for student support will be shared.
