The Nicholas Romano Chemistry Award is funded in memory of Nicholas Romano who was a chemistry teacher at John Jay High School in East Fishkill, NY. He was a veteran of World War II serving as an Aircraft Engineer in the Army Air Corp, a pharmacist, chemistry teacher, author and publisher of engineering text books and HS review books. The purpose of the award is to encourage New York chemistry educators to join the organization and attend the annual conference in Syracuse. The award is open to individuals in the first ten years of their career. The award includes:

Application Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must be a chemistry teacher within their first ten years of full-time teaching as of September and a current STANYS member at the time of application. A complete application includes a submitted application using the template provided and a recommendation from a principal or department leader. Selected recipients must commit to attending the full annual conference.
