Transformative professional development gives teachers opportunities to not just learn, but to apply their learning to strengthen classroom practice. Within science and from an equity standpoint, this means that teacher leaders and PD designers should be able to create professional learning experiences that not only engage all participants in sensemaking around the content that they teach, but also in the ways in which they can then go back to their classrooms and invite all of their students into that content as well.

In this one day remote professional learning experience, we will experience a model for professional development that centers the science learning experience on classroom practice, then work together to unpack the influence of the approach. In addition, we will spend some time collaborating in small groups to use this approach as a lens through which to design or refine PD that you wish to facilitate in the future.
