"SPRING SESSION" of STANYS Professional Learning!

Presenter: Michael Wysession [Sponsor: Savvas Learning]

The NGSS are designed to be student-centered, where student inquiry drives a set of learning sequences through all of the units. These learning experiences are meant to revolve around phenomena and engaging questions along the lines of phenomenon-based learning. A learning model such as the 5E Model is very effective in developing the learning sequence for each unit. In this session, we will first outline generally how the 5E Model can be used to unpack an engaging storyline that develops around phenomena-related questions and then break out into two groups to investigate specific examples for the cases of physics and chemistry.
