"SPRING SESSION" of STANYS Professional Learning!
Presenter: Dr. Aris Winger
Who are the maginalized students in our classroom? How do we connect with them? How do we disrupt the impacts of marginalization in society in our own classrooms? What work must we do as educators to prepare ourselves to do this challenging work?
In this first part of a multi-part series, we start investigating the requirements needed to begin creating spaces where all of our students feel welcomed and valued in the classroom.
This introductory experience will be interactive and challenging, as the needs of our students require the voices of our teachers and for difficult questions to be posted and unpacked. Participants should come with an open mind and be ready to leave with numerous questions, soul searching and pragmatic changes to make when they next enter the classroom.
