Energize Your Paper Airplane Lessons
Are you teaching physics and aerodynamics this year using a paper airplane lesson? Take it up a notch and enter the POWERUP Toys Powered Paper Airplane Challenge!
Students across the nation are challenged to design creative, aerodynamic paper airplanes that can hit a target, but there’s a twist. They get to use the POWERUP 2.0 Free Flight, a battery powered propeller that gives a student’s paper plane more than 30 seconds of flight.
How to Enter
Entering is easy – after registering, you will receive a six-lesson Teachers’ Guide. It walks you through standards-aligned lessons that teach students about aeronautics and challenge them to think critically while designing their paper airplane. When students are ready to test their planes, simply clip on the POWERUP 2.0 Free Flight motor and it’s ready to launch – but make sure to record their flights! Then upload the flight video to POWERUP Toys’ FlightDeck online learning community.
How to Win
Students’ paper airplanes will be judged based on distance and accuracy of flight, maximum duration of flight, and design creativity. POWERUP Award badges will be given for school level, small team, and individual teams. National-level winners for each category will receive POWERUP kits.
- Registration closes September 28, 2018.
- Educators must upload submissions to FlightDeck by October 31, 2018.
- Winners are announced November 7, 2018.
