Awards and Fellows

STANYS Awards

Our organization recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to STANYS and science education. The awards we offer are listed below. The recipients are recognized at the STANYS Annual Conference.

STANYS Fellow is the highest honor bestowed upon a member. Fellows have served with distinction in the classroom and professional organizations. Their leadership and scholarly endeavors in science education are noteworthy.

The STANYS Excellence in Teaching Award honors an elementary, intermediate, or high school teacher who demonstrates excellence in science teaching and is involved in professional activities.

The Fellows New Teacher Conference Award recognizes the future promise of a new teacher.

STANYS members who make exceptional contributions in science education are presented the STANYS Service Award. STANYS also supports Section Service Awards granted to noteworthy members at regional meetings.

The STANYS Award of Appreciation is presented to individuals who have given exemplary service to STANYS.

The STANYS Executive Committee Award is given to a non-member who has made exceptional contributions to STANYS or science education.

Sections of STANYS that have the greatest increase in total membership and the greatest percentage increase are rewarded with the Membership Challenge Award.
