Sunday, November 1

Sessions A, B, C: 9:30 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.

Reception: 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

General Meeting of the Membership and Keynote Address: evening

Keynote Address will be given by Mr. Jerome Ringo, President of Apollo Alliance.

Awards Ceremony and Dinner: STANYS honors teachers who have demonstrated excellence in teaching or performed exemplary service and recognizes a new teacher with future promise.

Monday, November 3

Sessions D, E, F, G: 8:00 a.m. -2:45 p.m.

Reception: 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Fellows Induction Ceremony and Fellows Address: evening

STANYS honors new Fellows chosen for their exemplary leadership in science education, scholarly endeavors, and effective teaching.

Fellows Address will be given by population geneticist Dr. Spencer Wells, who will tell us the story of human migration out of Africa and across the Earth as revealed by genetics.

Tuesday, November 4

Sessions H, I, J: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Invited Speakers

In addition to the evening Keynote and Fellows Addresses, several speakers will be featured throughout the day program. They are Dr. John Delano, geologist at the University of Albany, Dr. Laura Landweber, evolutionary biologist at Princeton University, and Dr. Adam Frank, astronomer at the University of Rochester. These scientists will focus on topics that celebrate the evolution of life and the cosmos. In this way we recognize the contributions of Charles Darwin and the International Year of Astronomy.
