Champion of Teacher Development Award

 

A STANYS Award  Nomination Form should be submitted and approved before an Application is submitted.

The Champion of Teacher Development Award recognizes building and/or school district administrators who promote continued professional learning of science teachers.  This award is open to educators with responsibilities for supervising teachers of science at any grade level.

To qualify for consideration for this award, submit the:

Champion of Teacher Development Packet.

 

An application and the information printed below are in the packet.

 

I. Philosophy of your role in science education and professional development.
Provide a personal essay that describes your vision of what constitutes excellence in science teaching and learning.  Include how you have facilitated that with teachers.

 

II. Supporting documentation of your role as an administrator supporting science educations and professional development.
Include letters of support that directly indicate how the nominee supports teachers in the improvement of science education.  Include specific accomplishments that have supported professional development.

 

III. Evidence that demonstrates your role in professional development at the building and/or district level.
Provide evidence to demonstrate your success in professional learning of science teachers. Evidence could include, but is not limited to, activities such as: workshops you developed for your staff, videos, publications, grants the support science education and professional development, and newspaper articles.

 

IV. Professional Involvement
Describe professional activities in which you have been involved in the past three years. Activities could include, but are not limited to:

  • Memberships in professional organizations
  • Offices held in professional organizations
  • Conferences attended and/or planned
  • Awards/Honors
  • Grants
  • Published materials
